As this crazy year comes to an end we all are more than ready to move past the great unpleasantness of 2020. There’s been a whole lot of change in our lives and the world around us. Some of this change has been for the better, while others have been more challenging to accept.
One of the big bright spots for 2020 has been an increase in intimate weddings and elopements.
An intimate wedding offers loads of flexibility. From a historic square to a rooftop view of the city, there are lots of possibilities when it comes to locations for your intimate wedding.
We’ve put together a list, highlighting some of our favorite locations around Savannah. Rather than ranking these beautiful locations we’ve listed them in alphabetical order, because you really can’t go wrong with any of them.
Andaz Savannah Rooftop:
How about a private rooftop for your intimate wedding? The Andaz offers a beautiful location for your ceremony or an intimate celebratory dinner.
Davenport House Garden:
The Davenport House Museum is one of the oldest homes in Savannah. The private garden and courtyard are a perfect location for an intimate celebration. Just outside the gates you’ll find lots of gorgeous backdrops for memorable photos.
Forsyth Park:
The Forsyth Park fountain is one of Savannah’s best known landmarks, which makes the park a favorite location for Savannah weddings. The fountain, which was built in 1858, has a gorgeous Oak lined walkway leading to it from Gaston Street. This popular location books quickly, especially on Saturdays. If you are planning a wedding where you would like to reserve this space you will need to book it one year in advance. No reservation is needed for elopements and portrait sessions. If you are planning a small wedding or elopement there are lots of beautiful spots within the park where couples can be married.
Forsyth Park Inn:
The perfect little inn for intimate weddings or elopements located right by Forsyth Park. It provides a beautiful garden backdrop to your ceremony. It’s a great option for smaller weddings that can all gather and even have the option to stay on the premises.
Gastonian:
The Gastonian is one of the more private gems Savannah has to offer. Serving intimate weddings and elopements with a romantic garden, and sophisticated atmosphere.
National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force:
The Mighty 8th, is a unique venue you’re not likely to forget. Housing aircrafts, artifacts, and a large rotunda filled with all 50 state flags. There are multiple options, all with the flexibility to have both ceremony and reception or just one. There is a quaint chapel on the premises, which holds lovely stained glass windows, footsteps away from an eye-catching reflecting pool along the memorial garden path.
The Whitman:
Another prime location, the Whitman lies right next to Forsyth Park. Allowing you to entertain your wedding party and/or family on the premises for more than just the wedding day. The Whitman can provide space for a range of wedding sizes. One of the coolest features, for couples staying on the premises, is the third floor “Gentleman’s Room,” which includes a pool table for the guys to enjoy before the hustle and bustle of the day.
Whitfield Square:
Whitefield Square was designed in 1851. It is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on Habersham Street, between Taylor and Gordon Streets. In the center of the square is a Victorian gazebo, which makes it a favorite destination for both weddings and elopements. Its close proximity to beautiful historic Jones Street and Forsyth Park offers plenty of gorgeous Savannah backdrops for photos.
Wormsloe Historic Site:
With one of the most beautiful Oak covered drives in Savannah Wormsloe Historic Site is a perfect mix of natural beauty and southern charm.
