Planning a wedding can be tough. There are lots of things to consider from hiring vendors to picking out flowers. But, I don’t think any decision is more important than choosing the right venue. Your entire day revolves around this one important choice. So it’s key that you select the venue that best fits your personality, needs, and of course budget.

Savannah is a beautiful city and there are a ton of options from historic sites to dedicated full service venues. There really are a lot to choose from. Just narrowing down this list was hard!

As a wedding photographer we get to interact with the management side of a venue, but we also witness the day along with the guests. So through our experience we’ve put together a list of our 10 favorite venues in the Savannah area.

Rather than numerically rating them we’ve decided to just list them alphabetically, because you really can’t go wrong with any of these amazing venues.

Top 10 Savannah Wedding Venues

Charles H. Morris Center: The Charles H. Morris Center at Trustees’ Garden is one of Savannah’s most beautiful venues for a larger wedding. It is located at the eastern edge of downtown high on a bluff, which overlooks the Savannah River. The Morris Center offers lots of options for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception space. The patio is perfect for an outdoor wedding, while the attached tent provides a perfect space for your cocktail hour. Inside, the main ballroom offers 3600 Square feet of space, perfect for tables, décor, and a floor big enough to dance the night away.

Churchill’s 10 Downing: 10 Downing within Churchill’s, provides space for both ceremonies and receptions for smaller weddings. A great spot to have a memorable, rooftop dance while the central ceremony room is transformed for dinner. Churchill’s is located conveniently near the river and cobblestones, while still giving the option for the greenery of a square.

Georgia State Railroad Museum: Located near the heart of downtown, the Georgia State Railroad Museum is one of Savannah’s most unique venues. The old Central of Georgia Railway Shops and Facility provides an opportunity to married in a historic venue surrounded by locomotives. The Museum offers a variety of indoor and outdoor options, so you can find the perfect fit for your celebration.

Mackey House: Just a short drive from downtown Savannah, The Mackey House offers a beautiful mix of southern charm and elegance. Offering both covered and uncovered areas, gives you lots of options for hosting your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception on the grounds. Surrounded by nature, there are plenty of spots to capture gorgeous photos throughout your day.

National Museum of the Mighty Eighth: The Mighty 8th, is a unique venue you’re not likely to forget. Housing aircrafts, artifacts, and a large rotunda filled with all 50 state flags. There are multiple options, all with the flexibility to have both ceremony and reception or just one. There is a quaint chapel on the premises, which holds lovely stained glass windows, footsteps away from an eye catching reflecting pool along the memorial garden path.

Savannah Station: Savannah Station is one of Savannah’s largest event venues to be housed in a historic structure. Originally built in 1902 for a horse stable it has gone through many transformations over the years. In 1997 it was converted into an elegant event space. The main ballroom offers more than 6,000 square feet of open area, making it a great location for just your reception or can accommodate your entire day. The beautifully decorated bar area has standing room space for 200 guests during the cocktail hour.

Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum: The historic William Scarbrough House has the largest private garden in downtown Savannah, which makes for a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony. Just a short stroll takes you to the north garden where you can celebrate and dance the night away under a covered pavilion. The eco-friendly space offers lighting, sound, a catering prep area, a bridal suite, and onsite parking.

SoHo South: Located on Liberty St near the heart of downtown Savannah, SoHo South is just a short walk from 4 beautiful squares. Whether you’re looking for an all inclusive location or just a reception venue, SoHo South has you covered. An amazing atmosphere, a beautiful bar, and delicious food combine for a great experience.

Tybee Island Wedding Chapel: Located just 18 miles from downtown Savannah, the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel is one of the top venues on the island. Offering space to accommodate your day from ceremony to reception. The Chapel is close enough for photos on the beach, but also has plenty of gorgeous options for photos on site.

Vic’s on the River: Vic’s is a great location to showcase the Savannah River and all that surrounds it. Situated right above River Street and accessed from Bay Street, it’s a great location for some beautiful photos. They offer 3 different room options for different sized weddings.  Dieter’s Den is a comfortable and charming little nook for the smaller sized gatherings. Two other options, which are on an upper level, offer more space for medium and large parties. Both of these have a terrific view of the river and bridge, including private walkout balconies for each.  The larger room is also versatile in allowing you to have space for your ceremony and reception.
