Fall Wedding at the Tybee Wedding Chapel

Cora moved around in nervous anticipation. As the doors swung open theTybee Island Wedding Chapel was filled with a flood of bright sunlight and the beauty of Cora’s bride. As Nacine’s grandfather led her into the chapel Cora let out all the emotion she’d been holding in, which was a good thing because Nacine had warned if she didn’t she was going to turn around and do it again.

The ceremony was highlighted with their heartfelt words of love for one another. After the ceremony and some gorgeous photos around the property it was time to celebrate. The crew at Thrive Catering served up a delicious meal and Dj Will Smith made sure the dance floor was busy throughout the night!

Spring Wedding at The Tybee Wedding Chapel

Bright light surrounded Hanson as she stepped through the doorway into the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel. Her father escorted her down the aisle to her awaiting groom, but before she exchanged vows with Justin she had another important vow to make. Hanson reached into the pocket of her wedding dress and pulled out a locket and presented it to her new step daughter, Izzy.

Family was the focus for Hanson and Justin’s wedding. With so much going on over the past few months, there was a lot of uncertainty about whether or not they would even be able to have their wedding on their desired date. After a few alterations they were able to have their wedding as planned.

Congratulations to Hanson and Justin! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day!

Sickness is Not a Wedding Favor

It was a beautiful Saturday morning. I stared off out the window as I enjoyed the first sips of my morning coffee. I couldn’t help but think of how beautiful a day it was and the session that I was supposed to be having at that very moment.

Unfortunately it feels like I’m getting way too used to cancelations and postponements. This time was different though. You see, I had just received an email the day before letting me know that the couple wouldn’t be able to make it to the session because the groom-to-be had just tested positive for COVID-19.

The coronavirus has upended a lot of plans this spring, but that was my first cancellation directly related to someone having the virus. It really made me stop and think. What if I’d received that notification after the session? We do everything we can to be as safe as possible by sticking with outdoor sessions and using long lenses in order to keep our distance, but still, it made it all so real.

I Love My Job

I love wedding photography! That may seem like a no brainer coming from a wedding photographer, but believe me it’s not. I was at a photography conference in January and three different presenters mentioned during their talks how much they hated weddings. I mean we’re talking about world traveling wedding photographers who actually despise weddings. That’s insane!

I can’t imagine investing so much time into a day and not even enjoying it. Now I know they would probably say that they enjoy being with the people or documenting the party, but the fact that they don’t like the actual wedding day makes me wonder. For example, would I want to buy a cake from a baker who hated baking? Or read a book by a writer who hated writing? When a profession becomes more stressful than fulfilling, it’s easy to lose that passion for what you do. I’m happy to say that I’m truly passionate about what I do, and I’m so thankful for that.
