Forsyth Park Proposal Photography

There was excitement in the air all around the Forsyth Park fountain. Just moments before a gentleman proposed on the north side of the fountain just away from the crowd. Visitors we gathered around taking selfies and enjoying the weather.

Alicia and I were looking everywhere for our couple. You see preparing for a surprise proposal is kinda like a stake out. You have to blend in and keep an eye out for your target. We finally spotted them on the south side of the fountain and moved around and into position. I made sure to make eye contact and offer a sly nod as I passed. Adam got the signal and turned to Blair and dropped to one knee. Her reaction was priceless.

Surprise Forsyth Park Proposal

Kyle and Mackenzie strolled along the tree covered sidewalk and stopped by the fountain. Kyle handed her a piece of paper. As she began reading a group of folks began peeking out from behind the pump house on the other side of the fountain. The moments seemed to pass in slow motion as Kyle began to pull out the ring and get down on one knee.

Mackenzie said yes and clung to Kyle as their family members came out from their hiding spot to surprise her and join the celebration.

Congratulations to Mackenzie and Kyle on their Savannah engagement!

Surprise Proposal at The Lost Square

To celebrate their anniversary Genevieve and Trent went to one of their favorite rooftop bars to read letters from one another and watch the sunset. As Genevieve was reading her letter Trent got down on one knee behind her. As she finished her letter she turned toward Trent and gasped with a pretty loud expletive.

As the shock of the moment wore Trent had more surprises up his sleeve. A group of their friends and family had come out to celebrate with them.

Congratulations to Trent and Genevieve on their engagement!

Capturing Your Surprise Proposal

I love surprise proposals! Nothing reminds me more of my days as a newspaper photographer than documenting a proposal. From the anticipation, to capturing the decisive moment, it has everything that I loved about being a photojournalist. Plus we get to be a part of one of the most exciting events in a couple’s relationship.

An engagement is an extremely important milestone in your life. It can also be pretty nerve-racking. Believe me, I know from experience.  I had a beautiful speech planned out, but that was not what came out of my mouth. Add to the nerves, the thought of someone hovering around taking photos during this monumental occasion and it can be a little overwhelming.

Don’t worry, it's possible to document the “big moment” without being obtrusive. Besides, once you get on your knee and the ring comes out she won’t notice anyone else.
