Sweet Tybee Island Wedding Chapel Wedding

The Tybee Island Wedding Chapel has long been one of my favorite venues. Add in a super adorable couple and you get one pretty spectacular wedding day. Sarah and John’s friends and family all agree on one thing. Sarah and John are the perfect match for one another. Spend more than 5 minutes with them and you can easily see why.

From the sweet ceremony to all of the personal touches the day was magical from start to finish. Plus, you hardly ever go wrong with a live band and Leopold’s Ice Cream. John,  being a musician himself, totally stole the show when he joined the band for a song.

What I Learned From Watching Gold Rush

Last week I decided to work at home a couple of days, which was probably my first mistake. I turned the TV on the Discovery Channel and a marathon of the series Gold Rush was on. As it turns out, the 10th season was premiering on Friday, so it was all Gold Rush all week.

I’m sure you know what’s coming next...yup I was sucked in to watching part of a TV show marathon. I’m not sure what it is about the show. I guess it’s true that we’ll watch just about anything, as long as there’s a little drama. If you haven’t seen it- the show follows 3 gold mining crews as they use modern day techniques to mine their claims in the Yukon. It’s a lot of heavy equipment moving a lot of dirt, which is not good for the environment.

As I was watching, I began to realize that it was more than just mindless entertainment. I could see the mining bosses were giving a lesson in running a business, whether they knew it or not.

Fall Wedding at the Kimpton Brice Savannah

They say it’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day. Now  I’m not sure how many brides feel that way in the moment, but stories abound from different cultures around the world celebrating rain. From signifying that you will have children to the idea of renewal and starting your married life cleansed almost all versions of this superstition mean good luck.

Alyssa and Michael took it all in stride as Mother Nature forced a change of plans for their outdoor destination wedding. The team at The Brice did an amazing job as they moved the ceremony inside.

No matter the weather Alyssa and Michael celebrated their love and joy with friends and family as they danced the night away. We even managed to get a photo of the two of them out in the courtyard during a break in the rain.

Congratulations Alyssa and Michael. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day!

Capturing Your Surprise Proposal

I love surprise proposals! Nothing reminds me more of my days as a newspaper photographer than documenting a proposal. From the anticipation, to capturing the decisive moment, it has everything that I loved about being a photojournalist. Plus we get to be a part of one of the most exciting events in a couple’s relationship.

An engagement is an extremely important milestone in your life. It can also be pretty nerve-racking. Believe me, I know from experience.  I had a beautiful speech planned out, but that was not what came out of my mouth. Add to the nerves, the thought of someone hovering around taking photos during this monumental occasion and it can be a little overwhelming.

Don’t worry, it's possible to document the “big moment” without being obtrusive. Besides, once you get on your knee and the ring comes out she won’t notice anyone else.

Forsyth Park and Soho South Wedding

It’s hard to top Forsyth Park when it comes to a truly “Savannah” location for your wedding. Whether it’s just the two of you and an officiant or you’ve got 200 guests, Forsyth Park can accommodate your wedding. It was the perfect venue for Tiffany and Tyson’s elegant Savannah wedding.

After they exchanged vows we strolled around the park to capture some gorgeous photos as Tiffany and Tyson shared in these  first moments as husband and wife.

The reception was held at Soho South Cafe where they shared in some good food, big laughs, and lots of love and fellowship with family and friends.
