Savannah Bed and Breakfast Anniversary Session

Coliene crossed her ankles as she bashfully looked away. It had been 12 years since she and Aldo had stood in that very spot by the fountain and said “I do”.

Back then they didn’t have the money to hire a photographer to document their day. So, for their 12th anniversary they returned to the Savannah Bed and Breakfast Inn to celebrate with a photo session.

Coliene had a bouquet done, picked out a beautiful dress, and even wore the same shoes as her wedding day. Aldo and Coliene are absolutely adorable together.

Happy anniversary!

How do You Let Go of Self Doubt?

You ever have one of those days where everything is cruising along, and then suddenly, out of nowhere something completely smacks you in the face? It’s crazy how fast our brain can shift from “everything is great” to “get me out of here”. That’s exactly what happened to me the other day.

It really was a good day.  I caught up on work and had the best wedding, with an amazing older couple. I mean it was one of those weddings where you just felt the love. I think everyone was in tears as they read their vows. I left them on a high, just loving my job.

Fun Fall Wedding at The Mackey House

They say you can learn a lot about someone, just from the music they listen to. If that’s true then a wedding playlist says quite a bit about a couple and their guests. So, what do you think a trio of songs by The Four Seasons, Bruce Springsteen, and Bon Jovi says about Kaycee and Louis? For starters they’re from New Jersey and second they love to sing.

Kaycee and Louis’s wedding day was gorgeous. The weather finally felt like fall, which I’m sure made them feel right at home. They chose to have a first look, so we could get all of the photos done while there was plenty of light before the ceremony.

As they exchanged vows the glow from the setting sun spilled through the trees creating a background right out of a Bob Ross painting. Following the “I dos” the party moved to the pavillion for the cocktail hour and then up to the deck for the remainder of the festivities.

Kaycee and Louis were surrounded by family and friends as they danced and sang the night away.

Savannah Davenport House and Vic's on the River Wedding

Kendall was awake and at the starting line for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah half marathon before the sun even came up. Her dad was in the wave of runners ahead of her, but that didn’t last long. She passed him as she cruised to a second place finish in her age division. For most, that would be cause for celebration, but Kendall already had something way more important to celebrate.

Last year Kendall and Michael were married during an intimate ceremony and now it was time to celebrate their love with family and friends. A Leopold’s Ice Cream cart greeted guests as they arrived at the historic Davenport House. Kendall and Michael renewed their vows during a heartfelt ceremony in the garden before heading over to Vic’s on the River to celebrate.

Wedding Traditions

My family loves Halloween! Of course, what 5 year old doesn’t enjoy putting on a superhero costume and collecting handfuls of candy? My wife loves prepping for Halloween- she stocks up on candy and gets great joy handing it all out to trick-or-treaters. Me? I love horror movies. It’s pretty much a must for me to watch the classic Halloween movie on Halloween. It’s the one day when it’s ok to pretend to be someone else as you stuff yourself with candy.

Isn’t it funny how we come to celebrate or hold on to certain traditions. Halloween for instance is largely based on the Celtic Pagan celebration of Samhain, where they would dress in costume and give out treats to ward off and appease spirits.

This got me thinking about weddings and some of the many traditions that we still cling to today.
