Friday the 13th Sydonie Mansion Wedding

Triskaidekaphobia. Man that’s a big word! I’m not sure how to pronounce it, but it means you’re afraid of the number 13. I know it sounds ridiculous, but even horror legend Stephen King suffers from it.

If you have Triskaidekaphobia, then Friday the 13th is probably one of those days you don’t leave your house. You definitely wouldn’t plan a big event, like say a wedding.

Well Katie and Tim don’t suffer from such a phobia. In fact they embrace the superstition as well as the supernatural. It’s so much a part of who they are that Tim proposed in a cemetery.

It’s perfectly fitting that they planned their wedding on Friday the 13th within 24 hours of the last full moon of the decade. The Sydonie Mansion in Mount Dora, Florida was the perfect  backdrop. They even have a resident black cat, which Katie says is what sealed the deal for her in selecting the venue.

With a chance of rain in the forecast they decided to add a tent as a precaution. The set up of the tent took longer than expected, causing the ceremony to be nearly an hour late starting. A  light rain began to fall, which was enough to make even the slightly superstitious begin to wonder, but Tim and Katie didn’t let it bother them a bit.

They took it all in stride and the ceremony was amazing. A neon sign that read “Till Death” glowed next to the altar as they read their personal vows to one another.

After capturing some gorgeous photos around the grounds of the historic mansion and making up a chunk of the lost time, Katie and Tim were announced in to start the reception. As they shared their first dance the clouds cleared behind them and a stunning sunset appeared on the horizon.

A fog rolled in after sunset while they danced late into the night. The party was capped off with “Day-O”, the  Harry Belafonte song from the movie Beetlejuice. It was the perfect end to a magical day!

Congratulations Katie and Tim! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your amazing celebration.
