Jekyll Island Maternity Photography

Brandy-Maternity-15

In my opinion, one of the best traits I have gained from my years as a photojournalist is the way I see and experience locations.  Not having set spots in mind and being able to approach each photo session in a fun and organic way creates a special experience. It also gives me the opportunity to view a location in a fresh way each time I visit. For the second week in a row I had a photo session on Jekyll Island’s Driftwood Beach. This time, we had a great time enjoying the beautiful evening on the picturesque beach with a gorgeous mother-to-be and her husband.

Congratulations Brandy and Mike! Spencer can’t wait to meet his new friend!

Tybee Island Family Session

Tybee-Family-Blog-5

Having grown up near the beach and the Atlantic Ocean I kind of take it for granted, sometimes just how special it can be. Especially to children who only get to visit, maybe once a year. I always have a great time watching as they explore the beach and surf.

During a recent Tybee Island family session the older children had no issue walking into the edge of the surf, while their young cousin cautiously explored the beach. He at first approached the surf with hesitation but by the end he was having a wonderful time walking in the edge of the water and running from the approaching waves. I am so glad I had the opportunity to document this precious time.

Jekyll Island Proposal

Joey-&-Holly-12

As my wife, Rebecca and I were driving along the causeway to Jekyll Island last Friday we began chatting about the day I proposed: how I surprised her at Old Sheldon Church by presenting the ring on bended knee, and then taking pictures of her as she opened it. I had a grand speech planed but I was so nervous I forgot and fumbled out some stupid words, but she still said yes. The subject came up because we were on the way to Crane Cottage to document a surprise proposal.

I remembered how excited and nervous I was the day I popped the question, and I wondered if he was going to be that nervous. We got to the Jekyll Island Club and walked around like casual tourists until we spotted the cute young couple walking toward the garden. I strolled over in to position and sprang into action as he knelt down to as the big question. I knew right away her answer would be YES!

We introduced ourselves and Joey sprang the second part of the surprise on the unsuspecting Holly with a photo session. It was an amazing experience and I am so glad that Joey wanted to document the occasion.

Congratulations Joey and Holly!
