Belle & Keith: Savannah Wedding

Belle-&-Keith-Blog-21

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and men sporting kilts in a sea of green will be a common sight throughout Savannah. If you happened by the Presidents’ Quarters Inn on Sunday, you might have spotted a few gentlemen in their green kilts.

Belle met her Irish musician, Keith in 2008 and they have been inseparable ever since. As they celebrated Keith’s 40th birthday with about 80 of his family and friends in his home country of Ireland, he got down on one knee and proposed. Belle of course said yes!

What better place for a true Irishman and his beautiful bride to celebrate their marriage than the home of one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the South?

Congratulations to Belle and Keith!

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

-Irish Blessing

Kristy & Ryan: Savannah Engagement Photography

Kristy-&-Ryan-1

I love it when couples include their pets in their engagement session! Having two pups of our own, my wife and I know how meaningful it is to include them in photos. That’s why I was excited when Kristy and Ryan brought their beautiful husky Kari along for their downtown Savannah engagement session. All three were wonderful models and I had a great time capturing photos of them at Emmet Park and along Factor’s Walk. I can’t wait to document their Tybee Island wedding later this year!

Why Schedule an Engagement Session?

Natalia-&-Mike-30

“Why should I schedule an engagement session?”

I’m sure many brides and most grooms may have had that thought. Especially if they did not have plans to use photos for Save the Dates. Engagement sessions can be a lot more beneficial than just producing images for Save the Dates. I highly recommend scheduling an Engagement Session so you can spend some time working together with the photographer and getting to know one another prior to your wedding. If you are nervous in front of the camera, an engagement session is a perfect way to break the ice before your big day. I personally want couples to be relaxed, and enjoy their wedding day, and I can say from experience that it is much easier when you trust your photographer and feel comfortable in front of the camera. Let’s face it, unless you’re famous, your wedding day may be the most time you have ever spent in front of a camera. The experience of an engagement session can offer you and your photographer peace of mind as you go through your day.

Here are a few tips to help you get the most from your engagement session:

  • Think of locations that are special to the two of you:  places you like to go together or where you shared a special moment (first date, first kiss, where the question was popped).
  • Stay true to who you are, and keep it simple.
  • Remember the goal of the session is to capture your love as a couple, not to show off your sense of fashion.
  • Dress comfortably:  If you feel comfortable, it will translate to the images and you will look comfortable.
  • Wear Comfy Shoes:  Keep the location in mind:  if you are not comfortable in heels, you probably shouldn’t wear them for a walk on uneven cobblestones around downtown Savannah.   Think River Street- ouch!  Cute flats or pumps look great…or so my wife tells me.  If sexy stilettos are what you’re going for, feel free to bring walking shoes or flip flops to get from location to location.
  • Make sure your clothes aren’t too baggy or too tight. Baggy outfits make you look larger than you actually are and tend to look a bit sloppy.  Girls, my wife suggests to bring a jacket or cardigan for layering especially with tight fitting or sleeveless tops.  They make for different looks.
  • Select outfits that complement one another without being too identical. Don’t wear matching Polos and khakis.  You’re not the Double Mint twins.
  • Guys, if she is wearing a nice cocktail dress, you should avoid flip flops and shorts.  Now, if it’s a sun dress, that’s another story…

Many of my wedding packages include an engagement session, however they can also be a la carte.  If you would like to learn more, please send me an email or give me a call.  rich@photosbyrb.com  912-604-5904
